The Communication & Works Department is mainly responsible for providing and maintaining
physical infrastn.icture in the Province. Over the years, the work load of the department has increased
manifold along with innovation in modem Iechnjques. In order to address the twin issues of capacity
budding and lntrodudion of modem engineering practices, the department has decided to ostabIisl a
Strategic Planning Unit (SPU) lo act as Technical ThWik Tank (‘P) of the Departmeni It shall coordinate
among Consultants, Contractors and other concerned Departments.
